Memo

Memo is a joint project of Inbal Cohen Hamo and Gali Hakmon, two artists who have been working together for over three years. The starting point for the shared project was in August 2022 when suspicion arose of cancer growth in Gali's left breast, leading to the biopsy, a positive diagnosis, preparation for surgery, and the post-surgery phase. The project will continue with photography for a year after the surgery.

For Inbal, this project extends her "Transtar" project that began in 2018 alongside her child's gender transition process. For Gali, the collaborative work allows for a deep process of understanding the changing bodily state through performance in front of the camera.

Through photography, we focus visually on the experience of illness that leaves a mark on the body, soul, and consciousness, seeking understanding and meaning in the unfolding changes.
